The said Nexus One will actually succeed the Google Ion and will ship with the Android 2.1 OS although you can immediately upgrade to Android 2.2 once you turn it on.

The offers is through T-Mobile only, has no root access and the bootloader is said to be locked as well.

Orange Offers Cheaper Android 2.1 Touch Screen Phone in FranceOrange unveils a new Android smartphone in France, cheaper and running on Android 2.1. The phone will be known as the Tactile Internet and looks a lot like the HTC Tattoo. Among the specs that this phone will carry include a 2.8” QVGA display, a 3.2 MP camera, HSDPA and WiFi connectivity.

The phone will also come with Bluetooth, a 256MB internal memory as well as microSD expansion slots up to 2GB. Orange is asking only a single Euro for the Tactile Internet on a contract.

SmartQ Tablets SmartQ has unveiled the new Android 2.1 powered T7 and T7-3G tablets, holding closely similar features that the R7 had. They feature speedier 720MHz CPUs, a relable 4,700 mAh battery and the 7” display that should allow you to watch videos or browse the web.

The SmartQ T7 will retail for about $219 while the EVDO and WCDMA with 3G versions will cost $278 and $292 respectively.

01 Jul 10 Motorola Delays Android 2.1 Update Indefinitely

T-Mobile Cliq Motorola has indefinitely delayed the Android 2.1 update for the T-Mobile Cliq and Cliq XT. Despite a scheduled update release by the second quarter (which incidentally is about this time), Motorola announces that “testing in process”.

In case you are wondering, that is short of saying that the update is not coming yet anytime soon. Well, I guess it is better to wait rather than release an update that may lead to more problems. Remember the HTC EVO 4G update that “bricked” a lot of handsets?

Normally, you would think that upgrading the OS of your phone would somehow improve the display issues but not for the Google Nexus One. Apparently, upgrading to the Android 2.1 has not helped a bit and from the looks of it, it has even made things worse.

This includes even Droid owners which have reportedly had issues when they upgraded their Android OS.
