09 Jun 10 Google Phones Get GPS Functionality
Google phones like the Google Nexus One will be getting a software update which will now turn them into GPS devices to rival phones in the market which have integrated global positioning in their list of features.
The new upgrade will affect phones running on Android versions 1.6 and higher and will provide added features like turn-by-turn navigation and Google Street View capability. The turn-by-turn feature will work like a regular in-car GPS: the user inputs a destination and the device provides directions to that destination.

As far as the Google Nexus One is concerned, only Vodafone is perhaps easily identifiable as far as distribution and selling the much criticized Google Phone. Much of the other online means of getting a hold of it have practically shut down, making Vodafone the sole heir of making or breaking the Google Nexus One.

It may take some more time for the Google Nexus One to reach certain countries but if you cannot wait, why not check out the HTC Desire. According to GSM Arena, they are practically the same only that the HTC Desire has the HTC Sense skin on top of Android 2.1. Other than that, they are practically “TWINS” at least in some features such as the buttons on the front.

Google Nexus One accessories are starting to come out and while many have seen those protective casings, here is something different. Kidigi has unveiled a rare FM transmitter for the Google Nexus One, which allows the Google device to transmit music from a car’s radio.
It gets its power from the usual car cigarette lighter. Unfortunately, there are no details yet about pricing and date of availability.

Everyone is going agog over the Google phone which will make use of a new Android version and possible VoIP service. Taking into consideration VoIP, this could mean that people can make calls using the Internet rather than the usual cellular network. Adding one and one, mobile users may just see their phone bills go down or maybe even say goodbye to those crappy monthly phone expenses! That idea alone should get you up and jumping but let’s wait for it to be official before getting all excited.

20 Dec 09 20,000 Apps for Google Phones Recorded
The Android Market platform is slowly creeping into the success that other mobile OS have achieved. And to support that claim, 20,000 apps are now available for download. These numbers have doubled from recent months but is still a far cry from the 100,000 apps that the Apple app store carries. But if the trend continues, expect the number of apps for Google Phones to swell more in the coming months.

17 Dec 09 Google Phone Coming Out with 2 Versions
Google will be releasing two versions of the Google Phone, one with a contract with T-Mobile USA and one that is unlocked. The Google phones will have code names like HTC Passion, Dream or Nexus and will be available at the Google website by January 5, 2010. The phone will somehow resemble the iPhone only that it will come with a larger screen and will have provisions for adding a memory card to it.
