For the people who may have purchased the Google Nexus One from Vodafone, your Froyo (Android 2.2) update will be available starting next week. Of course this will be an incremental release so Vodafone customers may want to be patient until at least the next couple of weeks.
Some note though. The update will not include things like Amazon MP3 store and Google Goggles don’t come included in the new ROM.

Vodafone previously offered the Google Nexus one free at £35 with a contract but now it seems it will cost £10 less. Lower price tariffs have been introduced which should appeal to customers who are wary of paying monthly installments to get the Google phone for free.

While everyone is still at odds on why Google scrapped most of the sales schemes for the Nexus One, it seems that it was all a business-related issue. Except for Vodafone, it seems the new business model concerning the Google Nexus One was made way before we even got the announcement that Google was halting sales for the Nexus One.
Depending on how you look at it, it looks like the new approach has raised some eyebrows. Then again, if the move was made on a business standpoint, perhaps Google may eventually benefit from it…if it works!

As far as the Google Nexus One is concerned, only Vodafone is perhaps easily identifiable as far as distribution and selling the much criticized Google Phone. Much of the other online means of getting a hold of it have practically shut down, making Vodafone the sole heir of making or breaking the Google Nexus One.

In an effort to help pick up the slack as far as pushing Google Nexus One sales, Vodafone has commissioned digital agency TBG London to help in the process. The result was a site where MeetAndroid.co.uk first appears as a Google error page saying the search for ’Meet Android’ didn’t match any documents.
Then a Google Android character tears down the page to reveal information about Vodafone’s Nexus One handset deal. This new campaign should be a good strategy to help Vodafone sell the Google Nexus One after Google stopped selling them online.

Everyone knows by now that Google has shut down its online shop and has thus relegated getting the Google Nexus One through new retailers. As far as France is concerned, the Google Nexus One is now available through SFR, a French provider from the Vodafone Group.
SFR will be offering the Google Nexus One for 129 EUROS which includes a 12 month contract. It will also be available for 419 EUROS on a pay as you go offer. The latter is really a good deal as this Nexus One is sim-free and has no SFR customization and no extra apps.

While we all know that the Google Nexus One has landed over at Vodafone, it can be yours for free with a 2 year contract. Though our previous post reported that there was a shortage due to the large demand, it looks like there is enough for everyone as shown by the site itself.
Hence, if you have been aching to get a Nexus One, that time is now. For the people wary of a contract option, you can always look at other plans where you may have to pay small amounts for the Google phone.
